The Challenge

Atopic Dermatitis: Life in a Constant State of Crisis

Atopic dermatitis is often dismissed as a minor skin irritation. For the children Kumi Uri supports, it means a life of unbearable itching, bleeding wounds, chronic sleep deprivation, and social isolation. Conventional medicine too often offers only symptom management – not holistic solutions.

😣
Chronic Itching & Sleep Deprivation

Children scratch until they bleed – around the clock. Families lose their nights.

💔
Psychosocial Isolation

Shame, social withdrawal, depression – the condition robs children of their carefree years.

🔄
No End in Sight

Left untreated, the disease can have lasting consequences – both physical and psychological.

“I cried with my 2-year-old daughter at 3 a.m. when she said she couldn’t take it anymore. Kumi Uri is the only light in the dark tunnel of atopic dermatitis.”

🏔 Why Davos? The Therapeutic Alpine Climate

At 1,560 m above sea level, Davos offers ideal conditions: extremely low levels of house dust mites, pollen and pollutants – the main triggers of flare-ups. UV radiation provides natural anti-inflammatory benefits. Dr. Matthias Möhrenschlager of the Hochgebirgsklinik Davos: «Over 60 years, thousands of patients have experienced enormous benefits – effects often persist for months or even years.»

“Over the past 60 years, thousands of atopic dermatitis patients have experienced enormous therapeutic benefit following a stay in Davos. With the absence of itching, affected children can often sleep for the first time in weeks or months. The improved skin condition frequently lasts for months or even years after the camp.”
